If you are interested in understanding the Hebrew roots better, this will be the greatest asset in your library. Theological Wordbook of the Old TestamentBy using the Strong’s you can backtrack to the original language and find the historical, contextual, and cultural meaning of words.

This resource also traces the roots and derivatives of words. For instance, the word “speak” in Hebrew is DBR or dabar. Some of the derivatives are

1. flock

2. words

3. wilderness

 

What I have learned is that the rabbis then understand connections between these three. There is something connected between words, wilderness and flock. If you would like to understand this better, you should check out Ray VanderLaan’s site at Followtherabbi.com. There are others like “wings” and “tassels” beign the same word and many others. When I did a study on the Tabernacle, this really began to open up new realities.
